Robert Seaman would be alive today if Nancy had been forced to address her anger problems. And yet most people poled believe her. Her own testimony contradicts itself and still people want to believe that a man could not possibly be the victim here. She was convicted by a jury of her peers. They all heard all the arguments and they CONVICTED her. But what is the media playing at here? Making her look the victim herself? Even the judge had a hand in this masquerade. The evidence is overwhelmingly against her. Her eyes are dry when she 'cries.' Why does anyone believe her? Pure and simple prejudice. She is a woman, he a man. He must have done something to deserve this. Femi-nazi hogwash. She planned his murder and then executed it. And then tried to abuse the system that is there to protect the real victims. Like all to many have before her.

Nancy Seaman hacked her husband to death with an axe. Then, as if that was not good enough, she assaulted his corpse with a knife and sledge hammer. She then tried to conceal the crime. Her motivation was that he was going to divorce her, and tha he had a 50% interesrt in this precious condominium she had purchased for herself.
When found out and brought to trial, she felt she could get a pass by calling herself an abused spouse. The sad thing is that a lot of feminazis and feminuts agree with her.

Umm maybe you people need to stop degrading Nancy. Yes, she was abused. You were not there to see the hell that she was living and hiding. Noone knows how it feels to be abused for years unless it has happened to you. Nancy was not just fighting that day for that one incident - she had many,
many incidents in her head when she killed her husband. I for one knows how it feels to be asleep and be awakened by a noise and my first thought was that "he is here to finally kill me". Thank God for her one son that stood by her. I wish she hadn't had to do what she did, but it happened and she should not have spent a day in prison.
You obiously don't even know the details. To say she was abused is absurd. If you look at the tell tale signs of abuse, not a single one applies to her. She had the freedom to do what ever she pleased. She tried to isolate HIM from his family and friends, she used his credit cards to charge everything, even unloading hers onto his to pay for the condo - imporving her credit rating. He hated to go home to listen to the degrading remarks and her constant picking. HE was the one abused. As for affairs .. so laughable.. never entered his mind.
I am reading the book at this time. The odd thing about it is it occured in the hometown which I grew up. I never believed for a minute that Nancy could use Domestic Assault as a defense. She is, and appears to have always been a sociopathic, narcassist. I feel bad for her father who only can see one side of his daughteer and her son Greg who has been so manipulated that he may never face reality. I never met Bob but I knew right away that he was a man of character and did not deserve to suffer years with such a sick woman. Maybe he stayed because he felt sorry that she was such a wacko. Bobs friends Julie and Dick represented everything lacking in Nancy. She was jealous and outraged due her delusions. Too bad she wasn't put into Hawthorne Center in Northville when she was a child. She saved herself for the big house, I guess. Now Nancy has a website requesting letters of support demanding clemency. Boy does she have them blindsighted. She deserves to remain in prison. There was no justice against her. Sounds like one of anonymous writers may be Nancy herself!!!

I watched this show and this woman should have been put to death. She is not just a murderer but she is a highly sociopathic boderline personality who will do or say anything to cover her crimes. What a coward to involve her younger son and somehow convince him that the 16 whacks with an AXE and the stabbing and sledge hammer were somehow justified. And using the battered women defense that every slimebag woman uses to get a better sset up for Divorce. And the sentencing Judge has got to be the biggest idiot I've ever seen or heard. It shows us exactly why the courts and family law is how it is. I attended the school Nancy Seaman used to work at and was going still there the year she was arrested. I personally believe there was some abuse. There was not one day she came into class without a long sleeve shirt and pants. She not once would roll up her sleeves or show any skin and she even came into school with a black eye once. In upper 80 degree weather it is rare to see anyone wearing sweaters and pants, just saying. And while I do not support her decision, abuse is never a reason to take someones life, I do not think it is right for anyone to pass judgement on her situation. Let it be.

Just watched the 48 Hours Mystery special on this case and I was shocked to see that a post from 2005 is still getting new comments. Guess other people have watched the special too...Anyway, watching the show I was struck by Nancy and her fake crying. There were no tears, just her "sobbing" and dry eyes and occasionally she would reach up and wipe her eyes even though nothing was coming out! Her eyes were not even watering!
The people saying that we can't know what happened and therefore shouldn't judge Nancy forget that THEY don't know for sure that she WAS abused...and she was rightfully judged by a jury of her peers for her crimes and found guilty. So, in that sense we can judge her as being a liar. As sympathetic as the show attempted to make Nancy, she still came across as a liar...she is doing a huge disservice to the women out there that really have been/are being battered. Her lies make it even more difficult for them to come forward so I really can't understand why people are defending her...
I personally think she did it & knew what she was doing. I also think she was being abused & bother of her sons knew it.
The evidence does not show that this was premeditated murder, beyond a reasonable doubt. If she intentionally bought a hatchett (a really lousy murder weapon) with the intent to kill and hide the murder...why in the world didn't she try to dump the body right away?? And her premeditated plan was to take him out in the family garage?? Why didn't she buy the cleaning products with the hatchett in the first place?? His body stayed in the back seat of their SUV right outside the house after she killed him...what was she trying to hide?? She really was trying to clean up the mess she made in the heat of a terrible moment...she reacted after years of abuse in an uncontrolled fashion. The evidence shows that she finally snapped and then panicked and didn't know what else to do except to try to clean things up, return the hatchett and make things look clean again...she definitely was a fixer...I believe it. 2nd degree...yes....first degree...no way. The wrong sentence was imposed, beyond a reasonable doubt.

You all should read the book that Joyce Maynard wrote. She's a great author. And it explains alot. It's so hard to make an opinion on this brutal case. First off I think greg is a fucking fag and he needs to pull his balls out of his ass and speak the truth. Nancy is a liar and that's the simple truth. If bob seamen was an abuser then the ending to this story wouldn't have been Bob seamen dead by a hatchet from his small and petite wife. There's just no way. I would just like to say that in Nancy's defense she came to school on numerous occasions with various bruises, black eyes, etc which were witnessed by many of her coworkers, including my own childhood teachers. She was the kindest, most compassionate teacher and she truly loved her students in the most amazing way. She taught my siblings and to this day my mother says that she was the best teacher that any of her children had because she would go above and beyond to ensure that each child was prospering in her class. In no way am I condoning her actions - murder is a horrible and inexcusable crime and one which she should be punished for. However, if you were to know the true Nancy Seaman there is no way you would be able to think her capable of such a despicable crime without truly just snapping. She must have been so lost in her anger that she could not stop herself once she decided to attack Bob. She was literally the last person any of us would have expected to be capable of this. I feel so sorry for her family. It is such a tragic end not only for Bob but for an entire family. Just remember that although she made a horrible mistake she is also a human being. Do not be so cruel attacking her on hate sites, leave the judging for god.

Bobby was my cousin. You have no idea how mean and hateful Nancy was. She hated Bob's family and was nasty to anyone she did not see as 'a higher class of people". Read the book about this (Internal Combustion: The Story of a Marriage and a Murder in the Motor City). The author nails the family as they are, kind loving and caring. Aunt Helen (Bob's mom) passed away but was kind and loving until the end. This woman is evil and she did the verbal abuse on everyone she disliked.

This came directly from one of Bob's brothers. He told it to me and to one of his aunts personally. The prosecution did not enter it as evidence because she claimed it was done by accident while moving his body. She ran over them with the car but instead of fighting over the point in court. They felt the axe and knife wounds were enough.

I think Nancy deserved mercy from the court. There was an incident where she reported the abuse she was going through. Unless you've been a victim of domestic violence you don't have the right to judge how she snapped. I think that it is pretty clear from the evidence that she is lying about being abused. Hey Ladies, Mother's Day is just around the corner and just as Nancy Seaman did, you need to be thinking of way to gain permanent independence from the husband that you hate so much. Obviously, Nancy didn't do it the right way, because she's rotting in prison while her husband rots in the ground. You need to come up with a blameless method to put your husband in the grave. The solution? Henpeck the hell out of that bastard until he decides that his only way out is suicide. 48 Hours just re-ran the story of Nancy Seamans. I believe Nancy because she spoke very quickly and with great detail about her abuse at the hands of her husband. No one who is lying can be that quick and that detailed about their abuse if it is not true. I have been a victim of domestic violence and abuse myself. I can understand the need to keep on striking as Nancy did. When a woman finally strikes back at her attacher, there is tremendous fear that that person will rise up and attack back with such severity that the woman will surely die right then and there. The abuser has to be stopped with all finality, so the strikes absolutely keep on coming. That is the scenario with Nancy Seamans as well as with Susan White who had a similar case. Nancy and Susan both should have been convicted of nothing more than manslaughter with probation only as their punishment. Murder is never okay, but self defense is a valid defense and should never be ignored in our judicial system.

Nancy ambushed her husband from behind as evidence shows all blows were to the back. He just returned that day from visiting his brother to discuss his divorce. Nancy went balsitic after he told her he was leaving and half of hers is his too. He was the abused as Nancy ridiculed him constantly and degraded him in front of his employees at his place of business. She has trully damaged the credibility of the actual abused victims. You cannot stab someone 37 times in the back unless they are lying prone, face down on the ground.

I also dont think she had the strength to swing the hatchet with one hand the way she described either and do so much damage as to knock him out cold as he didnt have any defensive wounds. It takes a lot of strength to do that with one hand unless you grab it right under the top not the bottom of the handle.

Okay, so after killing him with 16 blows, she gets up, goes away, gets the knife, comes back, and stabs him 37 times in the back, where he can only be lying prone at this time. This was barbaric overkill. He could only have been lying flat on his stomach when those stab wounds were delivered. Had she hit him with the hatchet the way she described, he would have fallen onto his back, and the stab wounds to the front.
Also, she showed no remourse. Ive seen battered woman who have killed their husbands in self defense before on tv. They usually are very upset, feel they should be punished. After all, thats how these men get women to stay with them all that time. They abuse them, they make them feel worthless, like its their fault. She had none of these symptoms.
But you have to look at it forensically. If it happened the way she described, he would have ended up lying prone on his back, then the stab wounds would have been inflicted to his stomach and front. But no, he landed on his front, because she attacked him from behind with the hatchet, with 2 hands and a hard swing, the more likely way she could have knocked him out cold. Then she hit him in the back of the head 15 more times as he lay on the ground. Finally, she got a knife and stabbed him..you know the rest.
I'm far from an expert, but in every battered wife case I've heard of, the wife did not try and hide her crime. They are not trying to cover their ass. They don't go and buy a murder weapon, kill, clean up, steal a hatchet to make a show of returning it to establish an alibi, tape up the body, load it in the car, go to the store again for more clean up supplies, claim the husband is off somewhere indulging his midlife crisis and lie lie lie. The cops were looking at the body and she was still lying away! It's ridiculous to me that anyone can try and excuse what this woman did!
On 48 Hours she and her son are such blatant and horrible liars. Her dry eyed histrionics on the stand were laughable. And the judge giving her second degree murder? Let's assume he did abuse her. Why couldn't she get away? She was an educated woman fully capable of supporting herself and her children were already grown and out of the house.
Yes, abuse is a horrible thing, I just don't see it as a justification for murder. She even said herself, "I don't think his intent was to kill me." So why is it ok for her to murder him? It's ridiculous. Women make less for the same job, outside of that they have every advantage in this country, including lesser jail sentences.

Regardless of whether or not there was abuse, the forensic evidence makes it clear that Nancy ambushed her husband from behind and that the murder was premeditated. She deserves to be punished, according to the law.
I have been thinking about becoming penpal and groupie of Nancy Seaman. I am surprised with the apparent large amount of free time Anonymous has to be able to write so much on here, and a great deal using improper grammar and a plethora of misspelled words. Whether or not Nancy murdered her husband is NOT for anyone outside the jury - and judge, being he reduced her charge to Second Degree Murder, albeit the Appeals Court reversed that judge's ruling - to determine her innocence or guilt.
If she was abused, she certainly did not deserve to endure it, however minute or extensive. And if she was abused, she certainly had no right to murder her husband. If she was abused, no doubt she knows how to dial 911, rather than take matters into her own device. And if she was abused, then only she and her husband know for sure, and he is certainly not going to have a voice.
As for the two estranged sons, you have the right to decide for yourselves, but you also have the right to put this part of your lives behind you as best you can. Were you victims of this dreadful act? Most assuredly, but how much longer are you going to hold this being victimized against your brother? You are both adult men; why are you not acting as such? I am not suggesting you to get over what occurred, but as adults, I would suspect you would prefer to live WITH the tragedy and accompanying grief instead of living WITHIN it.
